What I wore: Week 26

Week 26

pleated poppy

Thursday, September 20 – New outfit! This shirt is really long when I’m not pregnant so I knew it would be a good maternity shirt! It’s not form fitting, even with a 6 1/2 month belly, so I got to wear a belt. You know, since I’m in love with belts. Except it was a little uncomfortable when I was driving and I wasn’t able to slouch at all! I forgot that with a 6 1/2 month pregnant belly comes less room. 🙂 I’ll wear this outfit again, but maybe minus the belt.

Friday, September 21 – It was a “casual” day at work. We were allowed to wear our Not In Our Town shirts again, but mine doesn’t fit anymore. 😦 So, I found the closest thing to orange. A hooded striped sweater from American Eagle. I wore it with gray pants and called it good. Because it was casual, I was able to wear it with jeans that night also. I didn’t take a picture of the outfit, but I got a little smarter this week. It’s chilly here now so fall apparel is upon us. I grabbed my maternity capris and put boots on! Genius, right?! For the most part yes. The books are fitted so there wasn’t a lot of extra room with my capris. I’ll try it again as it appears to be a great solution to my pant problem.

Wednesday, September 26 – The weather turned chilly so it’s time for the jean jacket to make an appearance. It’s a good way to take a typical maternity work outfit and make it look a little different.

What I Wore {week 25}

I’m changing up the maternity clothes posts. I’m hooking up with Lindsey  over on The Pleated Poppy with What I Wore Wednesday posts.

Maternity wear, week 25

Thursday, September 13 – I had an early morning meeting and it was really chilly in my house. So, I wanted to wear something that felt warm, but I knew I wasn’t ready for sweaters yet. This is a bit of a stretch, in more ways than one, but my pants are gray and so is my shirt. I doubt I’ll wear this shirt much more since I barely got the last button done. That may explain why I felt stretched to my limits most of the day. 🙂

Friday, September 14 – repeat work outfit. New date night outfit! I’m undecided if I’ll try to wear these pants again. They really didn’t fit, but I wore my belly band and faked it. Even though I couldn’t even pretend to zip them, they didn’t fall down! 🙂 Because the pants are skinny jeans, they stretched. They are the only pair of jeans that I have that I could try to make fit, yet normally they are the tightest ones I have. If I get in a pinch, I might try it again…

September 11 – New outfit! I found some new colors to go with my Gap pants. The shirt didn’t quite fit as well as I would have liked so I was really layered up. I had a white tank top on to give it some length and then still didn’t feel comfortable so I put on a black vest. I doubt I’ll wear the gold shirt again and that’s unfortunate because I liked the pop of color. I think it looks like it fit more than it felt.

My other outfits were repeats and none of them were favorites. My date night outfit was by far my favorite outfit of the week! I love the purple shirt. It’s got plenty of room right now and I wish it was a little tighter, but I know I’ll enjoy wearing it all the way through the pregnancy. It was the first time this pregnancy, or as long as I can remember, that I felt like I was wearing normal clothes. I usually feel like maternity clothes make me feel un-normal. It’s like I search for clothes to cover my body and nothing is really me. Or what I want.

Week 25 in the books!

Maternity Monday: Week 24

Maternity Monday, week 24 {6 months}

Thursday, September 6 – I didn’t take a picture of my outfit, but I will eventually. I wore a maternity maxi dress from SweetPea Maternity.

Friday, September 7 – I made the mistake of dressing like the opposing team that the Cyclones were playing that weekend. Thankfully, I only got one comment and we beat that team, which happens to be our in-state rivals. 🙂

Black skirt (Motherhood), black shirt (Maurices), yellow top (Gap outlet)

Excuse the unedited picture. Lightroom isn’t work with me right now.

Monday, September 11 – no outfit pictures. I wore a simple black dress from Gap with a black and white scarf.

Tuesday, September 12 – This might become one of my staples for this pregnancy. The shirt is really long and I haven’t put it into my main work wardrobe because it’s fitted and fits weird over my pants. Basically it only works with a skirt. With a growing belly, I could definitely wear it with any of my pants too.

Wednesday, September 13 – this was a lame outfit. I found clothes that fit and went to work. I did attempt to spruce it up a bit by adding a scarf and necklace, but it was by no means a great outfit.

My favorite two outfits of this week were the maxi dress that I didn’t take a picture of and the skirt / top outfit on Monday.

Maternity Monday

Week 23

Thursday, August 30 work outfit:
Skirt (Motherhood), T-shirt (Not In Our Town), cardigan (Gap)

It was a bit of a casual day for me. I participated in a community anti-bullying campaign called Not In Our Town. We were allowed to wear the shirts all day, but couldn’t wear jeans. Being that it was still in the 90s, I opted for my black skirt. I felt a little too casual, so I dressed it up with a gray cardigan and a Lia Sophia necklace.

Because there was a rally at our courthouse square, we walked the two blocks to the lunchtime rally. I left the cardigan at my desk, but had a hard time putting it back on that afternoon. That heat really stuck with me! So, when I was talking to my boss after lunch and our executive VP came into his office his greeting to me was, “that’s a really bright shirt.” And my response was, “I feel a little bit like a pumpkin.”

I’m trying really hard to have fun with getting dressed. It helps my spirits, but I’m afraid I’m starting to slip into the same mentality I had last time. Check this day off, I found clothes to wear. I’ve got way too many days and weeks and months left to seep into that mentality already! 🙂

Maternity Monday

This was the first outfit I planned in my head. By sheer willpower, I held off until the middle of the week until I wore it. It was the only outfit that seemed “right” and I had a lot of things going on this day and thought it would be the most appropriate of the week.

Wednesday, August 29 work outfit:
Dress (American Eagle), Cardigan (Gap), Belt (Target), Necklace (Lia Sophia), Dog (Beagle). All years old.

It’s pretty much what I envisioned it would be. The skinny belt worked well even though the dress scrunches under the bust. It’s a spaghetti strap dress and the bust piece ties in the back so it does have some form to it. The form looks a lot better when I’m pregnant compared to not, but I did wear this for Maximus’ first birthday party.

The only negative is that I won’t be able to wear it when it gets cooler. I could wear it casually with leggings, but won’t be able to wear that to work. I have a feeling tights will not be something I want to wear when I’m bigger, but maybe I’ll find it is ok.

So far I like the season of pregnancy and weather, but I’m really nervous about finding cold weather clothes that I can wear. What are your favorite cold weather maternity wears?

Maternity clothes: Day 2

I’ve gotten a few comments about my maternity clothes, so I’m going to propel myself into this thing. Unfortunately my camera man wasn’t around so I had to take the photos myself. And I haven’t cleaned the mirror recently so you’ll notice toddler residue at that level.

Tuesday, August 28 work outfit:
Dress (Gap), Cardigan (Gap), Belt (Target)
Nothing is linked because I’ve had these pieces for years.

It’s been pretty hot around here lately. Almost as hot as our summer has been, but only in the 90s lately. Anything of skirt or dress form is welcomed during the heat wave.

This is a very comfortable dress. It’s cotton and flow-y. The negative has always been that it’s an awkward spaghetti strap dress. It’s cut weird so you can’t wear it alone. I think I can only wear it with this cardigan because it buttons over the chest. A normal cardigan hangs open and exposes the weirdness of it. Because of this, I don’t wear the dress that often.

I didn’t love this outfit, but it was ok. I think I’d like it better if I could find a gold or yellow cardigan instead of the green. I think I’ve popped in the past week, but when I wore this dress I received a couple of comments from people at work who didn’t know I was pregnant. Surprise!

Adventures with maternity clothes

I decided long ago that if I ever got pregnant again I would spend some money on maternity clothes. The first time I didn’t want to. Essentially, I wore all the same shirts out of my normal wardrobe. Towards the end I was a little limited and I considered it a success every day I wore something to work. It was perfect. Until post-baby came around and I had the same clothes. By that point I wanted nothing to do with them! {And I’m still wearing them two years later…}

So, it’s next time and I’ve been cruising the Internet looking for cute, chic maternity clothes. I must be really picky in my price range. Ya know the one where I don’t want to drop $50 on a shirt? We don’t have much in my town so I have to travel to look. I’ve tried a couple of times and come home with basics, which is not what I was going for. I’m back to looking online and trying to decide exactly what I’m looking for so I can search for that. It’s very frustrating!

I’ve recently been inspired by some Pinterest posts and more posts. So I’m going to take a stab at highlighting my outfits. I am in no way close to a fashion blogger or fashionista, but this might help me figure out what I want and don’t want.

Monday August 27th outfit for work
shirt (Target), skirt (Motherhood)

22 weeks

I’m not sure if this will last me all the way through the pregnancy. I bought a small and it is fitted. It’s a little long right now so it has the potential to last, but I’ll have to wait and see if I still want to wear tight things in the final weeks. I did feel a lot bigger because I could see the giant blue blob out of my peripheral vision. 🙂

I’m drawn to a belt or tie above the belly. I tried the skinny belt pre-pregnancy but didn’t ever find something that I loved. I think I can love it during pregnancy. Or at least really love it on other people!

What’s a bump post without a little toddler photo bombing? 🙂 Maximus gave me a sideways glance when I came in the house after work, but didn’t seem to have an opinion on the outfit. He did think it was pretty funny that daddy was taking pictures of me.

Overall, I like the outfit. I’m not sure how I’d feel about wearing it with black pants. The shirt seems to work with a form fitting bottom. For a casual look {because I need clothes that go both directions}, I would probably pair it with leggings.
